The next customer calls
while your hands are on the wheel.

Six houses a day means two hours of driving in between. The house with the dead washer finishes its call with another tech inside those two hours.

The call between jobs

While you are driving to the next house,
this is how it goes.

When it is missed

A missed call
is written down nowhere.

Appliance calls open with “can you come today?” A warm refrigerator does not wait a day. But while the owner is behind somebody’s washer or driving to the next house he cannot answer, and by the evening call-back that house is fixed or has ordered a new unit. In air-conditioning season that is ten calls a day.

What it will not do

The things a machine
must not say in this trade.

The four below are not settings you switch on and off. They are blocked from the start when the Appliance repair answering is built. Anything that touches them is not answered — it goes to a person.

  • It never names the cause from a description. It does not end with “it’s the pump.” It gives the possibilities and leaves the diagnosis to the tech with the panel off.
  • It never fixes the final repair bill. The diagnostic fee and the range for a common repair are all it quotes. Model and parts stock change the rest, and the estimate follows the inspection.
  • It never promises a same-day fix.If the part is not on the truck, it is a second visit. “We’ll have it done tonight” is never said.
  • A burning smell or sparks gets the safety line, then a person.Smoke, burning or gas means unplug it and shut the valve — read from your script — and an immediate transfer. It never explains how to fix it yourself.
