AI receptionist · phone

It picks up. Then it books the job, prices it and files the customer.

Most AI phone answering hands you a transcript. Forward your line to Saleringo and by morning you have a slot held on your real calendar, a quote built from your own price list, a customer record written for you — and a number on the dashboard telling you what the phone earned.

and a fact base you approve line by line before it answers anything.

A shop owner in an apron taking a business call on the pavement outside his store
18:02 · you flipped the sign

The call still comes.
You’re just not behind
the counter any more.

Evenings, weekends, and the middle of a job with both hands full — the line rings anyway. Forwarding is the only thing that has to change. Your number stays yours, your greeting stays yours, and closing time stops being the end of the conversation.

Same number · one dial code · reversible
How your number connects

Three ways to forward.
Zero new numbers.

Call forwarding is a standard carrier feature — a dial code, not a port. Nothing changes on your bill, nothing changes on your business cards. Pick the mode that fits how you actually work, and switch it whenever you like.

MODE 01

Forward after-hours only

Run the day yourself. At closing time one dial code sends calls to your AI line; at opening they come straight back. The night shift you never had to hire — the most popular start for home services and clinics.

Typical setup · *72 → your AI number at close, *73 at open
MODE 02

Forward when busy or unanswered

Your phone still rings first. If nobody picks up within about 20 seconds — or you’re already on another call — it rolls to the AI instead of voicemail. You catch the overflow without changing a single habit.

Carrier feature · busy / no-answer forwarding, ~20s ring delay
MODE 03

Forward always

The AI becomes your front desk. Every call answered, the routine handled — hours, prices, service area, bookings — and the rest live-transferred to your team with the caller’s context already captured.

Front-desk mode · unconditional forwarding, human handoff on request
A CLOSED sign hanging on the glass door of a shop after hours

Photography is illustrative — the sign goes up, the line keeps working: forwarded at close, answered on your own number on the second ring.

Set up the same day. Switch modes — or switch it all off — with the same dial code, any time. You keep your existing number in every mode.

What it leaves behind

A booking is one night. A contact is next year.

Three front doors, one record, and a way back to the person. The number from a call, the name and address a chat asks for, the account a messenger thread carries — all three land in the same customer record, which is what you send the confirmation from, chase the unanswered quote from, and build next month’s offer from. Marketing consent is asked for and stored per contact, and the export is yours.
One call, start to finish

2:47 AM. Ninety seconds.
Here is every word of it.

No decision tree, no “press 1”. The caller just talks. This is a scripted reconstruction of a real after-hours pattern — the same script we walk you through in onboarding.

A drawing, not a recording. We have no call audio to publish and will not imply that we do. The shape is the honest part: the caller speaks first, the line answers on the second ring, and the whole exchange takes about ninety seconds. Every word of it is written out below.
01 · PICKS UP Two rings, then a voice Language detected from the caller’s first sentence. No menu, no hold music, no “our office is currently closed”.
02 · QUOTES YOUR NUMBERS $180 and $120/hr came from you Both figures sit in the fact base you approved. If a number isn’t there, the AI says it will have a person confirm — it does not guess.
03 · ASKS WHAT THE TECH NEEDS Your intake questions, your order Silent unit or noisy unit changes what the van carries. You write the questions; the AI always asks them.

After the call

Answering is the easy half.

Anything can read a caller a price. What tonight was worth comes down to the slot that got held, the quote that went out, and the customer who got written down. Saleringo does that half too — it is the CRM for your trade with a phone agent attached, not the other way round.

01Answered Your line, your greeting, in the caller’s language — at 2:47 AM or 2:47 PM.

Safety by design

Some calls can’t wait
for a callback.

Gas, fire and medical emergencies never get an AI-only answer. The moment a danger keyword is heard, the sales script stops and the escalation playbook runs — every single time, no exceptions.

You define the keyword list and the on-call roster per day of the week. We ship a tested default for your industry and you edit it before go-live.

1Emergency services come first. If it sounds life-threatening, the caller is told to hang up and dial their local emergency number — before anything else happens.
2Live transfer. The AI dials your on-call person and bridges the caller straight through, staying on the line until a human picks up.
3SMS backup. If the transfer doesn’t connect, your on-call gets a text with the caller’s number and a one-line summary — and the caller is told a human is calling right back.
4Flagged and logged. Every escalation is marked in your inbox with the full recording, for review the next morning.
The AI gives no safety advice beyond “call your local emergency number” and simple, pre-approved instructions such as shutting a water valve. Medical and legal judgement always belongs to a person.

AI Phone FAQ

The questions we hear on every call.

Still unanswered? Write to hello@saleringo.com — a person replies, not a bot.

Do I keep my existing phone number?

Yes. Nothing is ported and nothing changes on your bill. You set up call forwarding with your current carrier — usually a short dial code — and your AI line answers behind it. Turn it off the same way, any time.

Will it understand my callers’ accents?

It handles a wide range of English accents, including Australian and Southern US — but we don’t promise perfection. During onboarding we test it on recordings of your real callers, and it goes live only after it passes. When it isn’t sure, it asks the caller to repeat or hands the call to a person.

What happens when it doesn’t know the answer?

It says so. The AI answers only from the fact base you approved; anything outside it gets “let me have someone confirm that for you”, followed by a booked callback or a live transfer. It is built to be boring and correct rather than confident and wrong.

Does it speak Spanish?

Yes. English and Spanish are native-quality voices, and the AI detects the caller’s language from their first sentence — no menu, no “press 2”. Beyond those two, further languages are supported with standard voices.

Are calls recorded — and do callers know?

Every call is recorded and transcribed, so you can review what was said. A disclosure line plays at the start of each call — you control the wording and how long recordings are kept. Recording rules vary by country and state; during setup we flag what typically applies, and you confirm it with your own local guidance.

Can I listen before it goes live on my line?

Yes, and we insist on it. Before forwarding is switched on we run test calls to a sandbox number with your fact base loaded, and you sign off on the recordings. If the voice or the wording isn’t right, we change it and test again.

How long does setup take?

Forwarding takes minutes — same day. The real work is your fact base: prices, hours, service area, escalation rules. We build it with you and you approve it line by line — with the founding cohort, typically a few days. The AI answers nothing until you have signed off.
